Marvel’s Netflix ‘Defenders’ Suit Up in First Official Cover Photo
The already-streaming Marvel Netflix series have given us a taste of the four major superheroes paired up, but we’re nearing time for The Defenders to bring it all home. So it is, that Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist are all standing tall in a costume-happy first photo!
Entertainment Weekly debuted a first official shot of the four in costume together, albeit with Matt Murdock standing in for his horned alter-ego. Luke is at least rocking his iconic mustard shirt, while Finn Jones’ Danny Rand ensemble is clearly meant to evoke the green, collared and open-shirted Iron Fist costume.
The cover story itself only offers a few scant details, though we know to expect another hallway fight sequence wherein some of the characters actually meet for the first time. Says showrunner Marco Ramirez:
Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York. We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, s—, who are you?’
Elsewhere of Marvel’s Netflix Defenders, we know the eight-part event will feature among the returning cast Elodie Yung, Jessica Henwick, Scott Glenn, Rosario Dawson, Rachael Taylor, Simone Missick, Deborah Ann Woll, Carrie-Anne Moss, Elden Henson and Eka Darville. The team-up series will be helmed by Daredevil showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, and helmed in part by Jessica Jones director S.J. Clarkson.
In addition to the return of supporting cast outlined above, Sigourney Weaver has signed on as the main, as-yet-unidentified villain. There’s still plenty of The Defenders goodies ahead, so stay tuned while we wait!
