Snailoween 2016: Highlights From Toronto’s Coolest And Nerdiest Halloween Party
While there's nothing wrong with buying a store brand Harley Quinn costume or Captain America onesie, there's something extra special about going all out for Halloween, assembling a costume from scratch and giving it your all for the spookiest night of the year. Every year, Toronto's Silver Snail comic store hosts a huge and nerdy Halloween bash featuring some of the best costumes and cosplay you'll see all year, and professional cosplay photographer Paul Hillier is always on hand to capture some of the coolest and most unique Halloween costumes you're likely to see!
The winner of this year's costume contest were the incredibly detailed and accurate pair cosplaying as everyone's favorite anthropomorphic henchmen, Bebop and Rocksteady from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Along with their boss Shredder, they impressed everyone with the care and attention applied to their suits, from Bebop's trademark sunglasses to Rocksteady's bulging belly.
Over the past eighteen months, Squirrel Girl has become an incredibly popular cosplay choice thanks to Ryan North, Erica Henderson and Rico Renzi's The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, but I haven't seen too many couples costumes complete with Chipmunk Hunk before. Speaking of couples costumes based on cult favorite Marvel Comics, there was also an awesome pair dressed as The Vision and his wife Virginia from Tom King, Gabriel Hernandez Walta and Jordie Bellaire's recently concluded Vision series.
Take a look at our gallery for the full highlights from the event, and if you're within travelling distance, consider popping along next time for the nerdiest Halloween party around.
