Supergirl Joins Lego Dimensions as a PlayStation 4 Exclusive
One of the worst kept secrets in Lego Dimensions' brief history is finally confirmed. After a few months of speculation about how and when Supergirl would join the game's expanding roster, TT Games and Warner Bros. Interactive have finally announced official release plans for the Kryptonian powerhouse.
This fall, Supergirl will be available exclusively in the revamped Lego Dimensions Starter Packs for the PlayStation 4. But don't worry, she'll also be available in-game as a "Hire-a-Hero" for those of you who don't want to buy another starter kit. You'll just miss out on the actual figure... for now.
Earlier this spring, a title update for Lego Dimensions hinted at the impending arrivals of Green Arrow and Supergirl. The Emerald Archer has since been distributed at conventions as an exclusive figure, but though many thought the same fate would befall Kara Zor-El, it seems TT Games had different plans in store for her all along. While not being a convention exclusive means she'll be a little bit easier to obtain, making her an exclusive figure in refresh of the Starter Pack might draw some ire from fans already heavily invested in Lego Dimensions.
For the most part, the figure is identical to the existing Lego Supergirl figure you can find in the Brainiac Attack set from 2015, though the Lego Dimensions version sports a different hairdo. Though her figure might not show it, in-game Supergirl also hides another secret: the ability to turn into a Red Lantern. Kara was a Red Lantern in the New 52 version of the DC Universe, and it's interesting to see her given those additional abilities here as a way to differentiate her from Superman, who is already in the game.
Though you probably won't be able to get her single figure for some time --- nothing truly stays exclusive forever these days --- Supergirl will be available in-game to assist with the "Hire-a-Hero" option. If you have enough Lego coinage saved up (and by the time this update arrives in the fall, you most likely will), you can summon her from hubs throughout the game. She'll only be available in limited capacity, but at least you won't miss out on her entirely. It's a small victory, but hopefully those of you who already have most of the Lego Dimensions expansions won't have to wait long after Supergirl's 2016 exclusive release to see her in a wider capacity.
The new Lego Dimensions Starter Packs will be available this September.
