Despite all we know of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and their respective casts, The Defenders has kept deadly silent on Sigourney Weaver’s mysterious villain. No longer, as new photos reveal not only said villain’s nom de guerre, but also some Luke Cage crossover, and more.

The already-streaming Marvel Netflix series have given us a taste of the four major superheroes paired up, but we’re nearing time for The Defenders to bring it all home. So it is, that Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist are all standing tall in a costume-happy first photo!

The Defenders are back! Except now they're four of Brian Michael Bendis's New Avengers. Which is to say, they're the same four heroes who are starring in the Netflix Defenders franchise: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. The newly announced ongoing series comes from Bendis and artist David Marquez, who also worked together on Civil War II, and previously worked together on Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man and Invincible Iron Man.

Fans of Daredevil’s Kingpin were undoubtedly disappointed to hear that Vincent D’Onofrio wasn’t likely to menace The Defenders, even as his specter still looms over Hell’s Kitchen. D’Onofrio previously claimed to know when Wilson Fisk might return, but does his 2017 production schedule rule out Daredevil Season 3?

Marvel’s Netflix Defenders has yet to reveal much about Sigourney Weaver’s main villain, though one imagines the eight-episode teamup series will feature a number of smaller big bads. Don’t expect Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk to menace anyone other than Daredevil, however, as the actor says there’s “no chance” of a Defenders appearance (or a Spider-Man: Homecoming role).

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from our years on the Internet, it’s that there’s no aspect of comics that can’t be broken down and quantified in a single definitive list, preferably in amounts of five or ten. Our first looks at The Defenders haven’t shown us much in the way of actual team-ups from the different series, especially as some are unlikely to play well together. That said, Jessica Jones and Daredevil seem to be getting along swimmingly in new photos from the New York set, at least in-between takes.
