There's just something about this annual gathering of fans, creators, actors and cosplayers that makes the summer that much more special. Oh right, it's all the toys. In addition to being host to all manner of awesome announcements, reveals, teasers and trailers, SDCC is also one of the biggest collectible events of the year. Every company big and small rolls out their best and most limited in the hopes of capturing your attention and those dollar dollar bills, y'all. For the fourth year in a row, Diamond is holding their Halloween ComicFest, where comic shops will have special Halloween-related events and offer a bunch of free comics. Basically, it's like a Halloween-themed Free Comic Book Day, which seems like a fun deal all around. Plus, some shops will be selling mini-comic packs of 25 comics that people can give out to trick-or-treaters! There are 21 free comics available this year, and you can check them all out below!

Good news for those of you who like standing in lines! Diamond has announced its exclusives for next month's San Diego Comic-Con International, with variant covers for comics like Adventure Time and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, as well as toys like plastic bank limited to 1500 pieces with the somewhat dubious description of being "a fan-favorite repair droid from Naboo."

Diamond Comic Distributors has released its list of the top 500 selling graphic novels of 2012. There are a few surprises, but there is certainly one constant: The Walking Dead. The biggest news? Diamond Comics Distributors is considering moving new comic book day from Wednesday to Tuesday...

Marvel Comics announced this morning that they would be switching distribution of their books from Diamond Book Distribution to Hachette Book Group. To be clear, this affects the way that Marvel distributes books -- the kinds with thick spines and way more than 22 pages -- into the bookstore market, while distribution to the direct market (comic shops) will remain with Diamond Comics Distributors
