
WTFriday: Communist Party of Italy Loves “Superman: Red Son”
An Italian Communist party called "Partito di Rifondazione Comunista" has latched onto a new figure for their promotional campaigns: Superman. Or more specifically, Superman from Mark Millar's "Red Son" series, where the Man of Steel lands on Earth 12 hours later not the U.S. but in Communist Russia, and becomes a hero of the hammer and sickle.
The Elseworlds Superman appears not only on posters, but also a post on the party's website earlier in July -- now taken down -- advertising a very attractive Communist Superman shirt (Or "maglietta," in Italian) for a mere 10 Euros! Check out the translated google cache pic below:
