Archie Action Releases for June 2016 [Solicitations]

Courtesy of Archie Comics, ComicsAlliance brings you an advance look at new periodical comic books, collected editions, and graphic novels going on sale in June 2016 from the publisher’s Archie Action line featuring Sonic the Hedgehog.

It's the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, and what better way for Archie Comics to celebrate than by putting out a special one-shot named after the console where the Blue Blur made his debut. Sonic Mega Drive takes its name from Sega's 16-bit console (before it was rebranded as the Genesis here in the states), and takes place after the destruction of the original Death Egg space station. It's a bit of a nostalgia trip, but that's just what anniversaries are for.

In more modern adventures, Sonic and the Freedom Fighters must once again stop Eggman from using the total power of the Chaos Emeralds (seriously guys, how do you keep letting him get his hands on those things?) to wipe them all out forever. Maybe one day, the Freedom Fighters will learn not to bring those gems anywhere near Eggman. This day is not that day.
