We barely know what to make of Arrow and The Flash’s proposed teamup spinoff, but already the landmark DC series has a major superhero taking flight. Ciara Renée has been cast in the role of Kendra Saunders, the current incarnation of DC’s Hawkgirl!

Per Deadline, the still-untitled spinoff’s Kendra Saunders arrives on the scene as a young woman just learning she’d been reincarnated multiple times over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona of Hawkgirl manifests, along with wings that grow out of her back. Ciara Renée herself has few TV credits, having guested on Law & Order: SVU last year, with a primarily Broadway background.

Deadline has also announced that Doctor Who fan-favorite Arthur Darvill will play DC hero Rip Hunter, described as a “roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit.”

The untitled spinoff, anchored by Arrow star Brandon Routh’s Atom, also boasts among its cast Victor Garber’s Dr. Martin Stein, Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell's Heat Wave, and Caity Lotz in a mysterious role unconfirmed as her Arrow character Sara Lance, who died at the outset of the current season. Eyed for a midseason 2016 debut, the CW spinoff has also obscured whether a formal order of 23 episodes will join Arrow and The Flash, or if the untitled team-up series would act as a miniseries of sorts.
