DC ‘Omega Men’ Teaser Declares ‘The End Is Here’
DC Comics released the above preview image by artist Toby Cypress for its new Omega Men series, and it confirms a few things: One that, the series will clearly be pretty trippy, and two, that the end is here.
The third thing would seem to be that this is a very different group of Omega Men than any that readers have met previously.
‘Arrow’ Season 3 Recap, Episode 22: ‘This Is Your Sword’
The CW’s superhero series Arrow re-imagines Green Arrow for a TV audience as a tough, often ruthless vigilante bent on setting things right in his home of Starling City by punishing the wicked. ComicsAlliance’s Matt Wilson is back for the third season of the popular series in our recap feature we’re officially dubbing Pointed Commentary.
This week: A wedding! A weird one with a lot of violent imagery, sure, but a wedding nonetheless. Also, a ruse is revealed and a mechanic says goodbye.
Advance Review: ‘Fight Club 2′ #1 Is Clever And Beautiful, But It’s Not All-Singing, All-Dancing
I have weird feelings about Fight Club, both the 1996 novel and 1999 movie adaptation. On the one hand, they're clever. Exceedingly clever, and I love clever. They have great dialogue and a twist that can really get you. The movie is visually stunning. And yet, there's the big question: "What exactly is this trying to say?" Is it a satire and indictment of macho behavior, or a (perhaps unwilling) endorsement of it?
The first issue of author Chuck Palahniuk's comics sequel to his book with artist Cameron Stewart (though in some ways, it seems to be more of a sequel to the movie) is in every way a continuation of that. It's clever, it's gorgeous, and it isn't entirely clear what it's trying to get across.

This week: Ollie appears to have fully transformed into a supervillain (his true destiny), Team Arrow does a lot of worrying, and folks enjoy some wholesome milkshakes.
CM Punk to Co-write New Ongoing ‘Drax’ Series
If either of them ever come back to the squared circle any time soon, former WWE superstars CM Punk (a.k.a. Phil Brooks) and Dave Bautista may have to tussle over ownership of Drax the Destroyer.
Marvel announced at C2E2 in Punk's hometown of Chicago this weekend that he is the co-writer of a new Drax ongoing series set to debut late this year. (Bautista played the character in last summer's Guardians of the Galaxy movie.) The publisher unveiled an Ed McGuinness-drawn cover to the first issue, but hasn't yet named the artist for the series, nor Punk's co-writer.
Frank Miller Returns To Batman With ‘The Dark Knight III: The Master Race’
Nearly 30 years after the release of The Dark Knight Returns, and almost 15 after The Dark Knight Strikes Again, Frank Miller is coming back to DC comics for a third installment in his series of stories about an older Batman in a world of corruption. It will be out this fall.
Let's generously say that the title is...interesting: The Dark Knight III: The Master Race. Miller is set to co-write the eight-issue series with Brian Azzarello, who wrote a somewhat controversial Batman story of his own, "Broken City," back in 2004. According to DC's blog, an artist has yet to be named. (Which seems to mean Miller won't be drawing it.)
‘Arrow’ Season 3 Recap, Episode 20: ‘The Fallen’
The CW’s superhero series Arrow re-imagines Green Arrow for a TV audience as a tough, often ruthless vigilante bent on setting things right in his home of Starling City by punishing the wicked. ComicsAlliance’s Matt Wilson is back for the third season of the popular series in our recap feature we’re officially dubbing Pointed Commentary.
This week: The dead are returned to life! Long-held feelings are finally revealed! A plane is requisitioned!
Gallery: Famous, Frightening and Strange Ads from Classic Comics
Page through a major publisher's comics today and you'll find ads for a lot of the nerd-culture stuff we've all become accustomed to: tabletop and video games, TV shows and movies, comics retailers, conventions, and other entertainments. There are relatively few surprises.
Go back a few decades, however, and you'll find that the ads that used to run in comics are absolutely crazy. And it's not just in ways you'd expect, either. Sure, there are the ads for muscle-building programs and sea monkey kits that have been parodied ad nauseam, but that's just a taste of what's actually in those classic pages if you start digging.
KISS and Scooby-Doo Team Up For New Animated Feature
One day, every pop-culture property will team up with every other pop-culture property. We're getting there bit by bit.
Case in point: Sometimes-comics stars KISS and the Scooby-Doo team will join forces in a new animated feature, Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery, which will be out on Blu-ray and DVD July and on digital on-demand services a little earlier, July 10.
‘Archie vs. Sharknado’ Is a Real Comic That Is Being Published
Archie Comics has officially jumped the Sharknado.
In an move that is absolutely not an April Fools' joke, because that was more than two weeks ago, Archie will be teaming up with the filmmakers behind the intentionally cheesy Sharknado movie series for a 48-page one shot titled Archie vs. Sharknado. The issue, co-written by Archie stalwart Dan Parent and Sharknado trilogy director Anthony C. Ferrante, and featuring art by Parent and Rich Koslowski, will come out July 22, the same day Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! premieres on SyFy.
