Deadline is reporting that Marvel Studios has cast Emily VanCamp, probably best known for her role on the ABC series Revenge, as the female lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Although her role has not been officially specified, it seems likely that she could be playing Sharon Carter, the SHIELD agent niece of Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter from The First Avenger, and Captain America's main love interest.VanCamp will be joining actor Toby Jones, who confirmed with HeyUGuys that he would return in the new movie, reprising his role as Arnim Zola, although hopefully as a more robotic version of the Nazi HYDRA scientist.

Both of these announcements follow on the heels of Anthony Mackie being cast as The Falcon, Captain America's long-time friend and occasional crime-fighting partner. In an interview with Aint It Cool News, Mackie confirmed that he will be getting the full superhero treatment.

"I will have wings. I will be able to fly. I will be a superhero and fight people, namely The Winter Soldier," Mackie told AICN.

With the added emphasis Marvel's put on creating a shared film and soon-to-be television universe, it's no stretch to imagine that VanCamp's character could be used as a cameo on the upcoming SHIELD TV show, unless of course, she gets mind-controlled into killing Cap. Either way, audiences will be able to find out on April 4, 2014, the planned release date for The Winter Soldier.
