‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ To Cast Georges St-Pierre As Batroc The Leaper?
Latino Review has reported that Georges St-Pierre has been cast in the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which has led many to… leap… to the hypothesis that he’ll be playing the fan-favorite French mercenary, Batroc the Leaper.St-Pierre is a Mixed-Martial Artist and current UFC Welterweight Champion, and has appeared in action movies like Death Warrior and Hell’s Chain. If the Batroc is indeed officially confirmed to appear in the film, then St-Pierre’s UFC and MMA experience should help boost the profile of the Savate-using (French Kickboxing) Leaper onscreen. Batroc has been leaping around the Marvel universe since his creation by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1966, usually as a villain and often as a comedic foil. Should he appear in Cap 2, it’ll be interesting to see which approach filmmakers take.
Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, and starring Chris Evans as Captain America, Emily VanCamp (Revenge) as Sharon Carter, and Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The First Avenger) as the titular Winter Soldier, the movie’s planned for a April 4, 2014 release date.
