The Art Of 'Deadman: Dark Mansion Of Forbidden Love'
I've expressed my excitement about Deadman: Dark Mansion of Forbidden Love plenty of times before. Written by Sarah Vaughn with art by Lan Medina, it's a gothic haunted house story that's simultaneously retro in its tone and progressive in its politics. DC has provided ComicsAlliance with an exclusive look at Medina's design process for the book, as well as art from both Medina and guest artist Phil Hester.

Comics Alliance Gift Guide: What To Buy For Video Game Fans
There's always been a seamless crossover between video games and comic books, and odds are if you're a fan of one, you're a fan of the other. Comics have been adapted into video games and vice-versa for almost as long as video games have been "a thing," and as both mediums have evolved, so too has the quality of those crossovers. With the holidays around the corner, we've put together a selection of some of the best video game related comics and art books for the gamer in your life.
The Endless Fun of Silver Age Superman Panels
The Endless Fun of Silver Age Superman Panels
The Endless Fun of Silver Age Superman Panels
As the first and greatest superhero of them all, it only stands to reason that Superman would be leading the charge with some of the wildest and weirdest comics of the time. His amazing list of super-powers allowed him to have crazy adventures that many other characters couldn’t dream of having, but he also got strange new (but often very short-lived) powers to let the creators go even crazier with him. All of which leads us to why you’re really here, to see this gallery of panels from Silver Age Superman comics presented completely without context. Some are weird, some are wacky, some are befuddling, but they’re all pretty fun, and the best part is this is just the teeniest, tiniest tip of the iceberg when it comes to Silver Age insanity. Just try to make sense out of them and enjoy!

The Nickelodeon of the '90s is alive and well in the hearts and minds of a generation of fans, but thanks to the recent revival on The Splat, icons like Ren, Stimpy, Tommy Pickles, Rocko and Doug Funnie are thriving once again. With that in mind, Mondo's turned its attention to the network where sliming someone used to mean something. Just because you couldn't do that on television doesn't mean you can't do it at an art show.

Strip Panel Naked: Negative Space in 'Jessica Jones'
There’s a particular sequence in the latest issue of Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Gaydos and Matt Hollingsworth’s Jessica Jones that I want to focus on this week. About halfway through Jessica Jones #2, Jessica heads back to her office and, before she enters, she imagines what might be waiting for her behind the door. Soldiers, Avengers, or the street-level New York superheroes. Instead of going in, she decides to flee. The double page spread makes unusual use of white space, but what does that white space represent?

Strip Panel Naked: Changing The Medium In 'Slam'
There’s an expectation of what comics will be when we pick one up, particularly in the monthly "floppy" format that most of us are reading. At Thought Bubble recently, on the Image Comics panel, a few of the creators were talking about how they were able to play around with the medium a little more, and change expectations of what comics are, especially away from "mainstream" books. This week, rather than dissect a single storytelling approach in a comic, I want to look at a comic doing something unusual with the form --- the Boom Studios roller derby comic Slam, by Pamela Ribon, Veronica Fish, Brittany Peer, and Jim Campbell.

DC Bombshells Bumblebee and Art of Bombshells Review
The DC Bombshells may have started as nothing more than a fun twist on nostalgia and the DC Universe, but over the past five years the line has evolved into something much larger. Since the first Bombshells statue arrived, the fan following has continued to grow exponentially, and DC Comics and DC Collectibles have expanded the reach and realm quite a bit. Now the Bombshells aren't just collectibles --- though there are still plenty of those --- they're also the stars of an acclaimed comic series. This week, DC Comics and DC Collectibles will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Bombshells with the release of The Art of DC Comics Bombshells, a hardcover collection of process art for the statues, variant covers, and comic. And following next month, DC Collectibles will release Bumblebee as the 19th statue in the Bombshells series. We got an advanced look at both, and fans of the Bombshells line won't be disappointed in either.
