Groot has proven wildly popular in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks in no small part to the introduction of Baby Groot, and even though Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 doesn’t hit theaters for another four months, he’s already become everyone’s favorite character. And while such intensely beloved characters often work better in slightly smaller doses within an ensemble (like the Guardians movies), Vin Diesel, the number one source for breaking Vin Diesel news, seems to think a solo Groot spinoff is “inevitable.”

I'm not one to get my hopes up for a movie based on the tie-in toys, but dang it, Hasbro is putting out a Spider Racer vehicle that shoots Nerf darts as part of its Spider-Man: Homecoming plans, and now I'm hoping we get to see a Spider-Buggy of some sort in the movie. It's not going to happen. I know that. But the idea has been planted by these toys, and now it's all I want from this movie... aside from two hours of Tom Holland charming the pants off everyone in the theater. The Spider Racer is just one of a few Homecoming toys Hasbro has teased for the upcoming feature ahead of this year's Toy Fair. Want to know what else is in the works? Logan is coming out in a little more than a month, and while we don’t know the exact story yet, we’ve gotten a ton of behind-the-scenes looks and trailers and posters showing us just how different and dark this movie is going to be.

Over the last several months, Black Panther has assembled a killer lineup, with names like Forest Whitaker, Sterling K. Brown and Angela Bassett among the recent names joining Chadwick Boseman— as if we weren’t already excited for T’Challa’s first big screen solo outing. Today, director Ryan Coogler and his amazing ensemble of actors officially started production on Black Panther, and Marvel has delivered the first plot synopsis with some new story details.

With Civil War II done and dusted, Marvel has its eyes on the next big event to change everything forever. The publisher has shared teasers for an upcoming storyline titled "Secret Empire," but no further information has been revealed. Given the current storyline in Captain America: Steve Rogers, in which Rogers has been rewritten as a secret fascist, and the events of the original "Secret Empire" story, in which the US government was infiltrated by extremists at the highest levels, it seems likely that the new "Secret Empire" story will see Rogers' HYDRA insinuate its way further into the Marvel Universe --- and the groundwork has been laid with the appointment of a new director of SHIELD in this week's Marvel comics.

Though Marvel's been content to let its mobile games do all the heavy lifting when it comes to officially licensed video games set in the Marvel Universe as of late, it seems that a return to consoles isn't that far off. Today, Marvel announced a new partnership with Square Enix, along with Square's studios Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, to develop a new game dubbed The Avengers Project. While we don't know much about what it is just yet, we do know the two studios involved have a strong pedigree for action games, and this one will definitely feature the Avengers.

Cloak and Dagger are two of the most-beloved C-List Marvel superheroes, and there's been a concerted effort to bring them to television in one form or another for the last few years. While casting and production is still in the rumors stages, we know that the runaway superheroes (lower-case "r") are gearing up for their own show on ABC's Freeform channel. Marvel’s The Inhumans TV series has a relatively quick turnaround to make a September theatrical release, and as such, will need to be in production by at least spring. We’ve already landed a director for the first installments, while new reports place filming partially in Hawaii.

There’s been some back and forth on the status of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger series over at Freeform; last reported to be delayed until 2018. That said, the rumor mill has been pushing hard in recent weeks, setting both a possible pilot director and some potential leads, but more likely an overall shape to casting.

Because Doctor Strange is in the MCU, and because the good Doctor himself will be showing up during the Infinity War two-parter, and because we need to get all those Infinity Stones out in the open before the movie hits or it’ll just be a mess of confusion right out the gate, Doctor Strange needed to introduce the Time Stone. But apparently, according to director Scott Derrickson, the Time Stone didn’t actually figure into the plot of the movie at all until very late in the drafting process.
