Things are real tough for everyone right now. Our current election is bonkers, Twitter and Netflix were down for most of the day, and Jennifer Lawrence is probably dating Darren Aronofsky. Life is hard, you know? But sometimes the world is OK and dreams can come true, and if you need proof of that, look no further than this amazing casting news: Donald Glover is playing young Lando Calrissian in Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Han Solo movie. PRAISE HANDS EMOJI, AMEN.

This is not a drill, people, and it’s not a rumor, either: The official Star Wars website has revealed that Glover has joined the cast of the untitled Han Solo spinoff, in which he’ll play young Lando to Alden Ehrenreich’s young Han. Part of the Star Wars Story anthology series, the new spinoff is being directed by the genius duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and based on a screenplay by Jon and Lawrence Kasdan.

Although plot details are mostly unknown, we do know that the Han Solo movie will center on the iconic hero in his earlier years, and will include his BFF and co-pilot, Chewbacca. Lucasfilm offered this description of Glover’s role as the younger version of the character made famous by Billy Dee Williams:

This new film depicts Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld — years before the events involving Han, Leia, and Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and his rise to Rebel hero in Return of the Jedi.

The film is also seeking a female lead and love interest for young Han, with Zoe Kravitz and Tessa Thompson reportedly in the running.

In addition to currently starring in the acclaimed FX series Atlanta (which he also created), Glover is set to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which hits theaters next summer. The young Han Solo movie is scheduled to arrive on May 25, 2018.
