We've seen a ton of promotional material for X-Men: Days of Future Past -- there's been more teasers, character images, early trailers and featurettes than you can shake a pair of claws at -- but the newly-arrived final trailer does us all a favor and just spits everything out in an easy-to-digest fashion. Finally.

By now it's clear that the film won't stick directly to Chris Claremont, John Byrne and Terry Austin's 1980 Uncanny X-Men comic book storyline that sent a future Kitty Pryde to the past to prevent a dystopian future where Mutants have lost a war with humans and Sentinels. Instead the movie will see Wolverine travel to the past to prevent a Sentinels-gone-Skynet timeline.

Interestingly enough, the trailer seems to establish that '60s Cyberpunk Quicksilver isn't Magneto's son as in the comics and is instead a random guy with a bad wig from the past who Charles Xavier just happens to know. We think.

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in the U.S. on May 23.
