Jeff Parker and Gabriel Hardman Ready to Smash on ‘Hulk’

After telling a story that spanned a couple years and a series of successful crossovers, Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness have finally finished telling the story of the Red Hulk, General Thunderbolt Ross. With the upcoming 24th issue, Loeb and McGuinness are leaving Marvel’s latest gamma-irradiated monster behind.

In “Hulk” #25, Jeff Parker and Gabriel Hardman, the creative team on Marvel’s “Atlas,” the “Agents of Atlas” relaunch, are taking over the reins and guiding Red Hulk into an all-new status quo. Their story, which runs from “Hulk” #25-30, is called “Scorched Earth.” When the Intelligentsia were still active, they set up several protocols that will run when a member of the Intelligentsia fail to check in. As Red Hulk is a former member of the group, he’s on a redemptive quest to fight against the biological and technological traps that the Intelligentsia set up to run in their absence. This arc will have tons of smashing, with guest appearances by from Iron Man, Thor, and Namor. Parker is no stranger to the Hulk family, having worked on the “Fall of the Hulks” crossover, written Lyra the Savage She-Hulk and Jennifer Walters the Other Savage She-Hulk in a number of one-shots and miniseries.

Loeb also confirmed that he will be remaining on “Ultimate X” and “Ultimate Comics New Avengers” with Art Adams and Frank Cho. He also teased a new project with Ed McGuinness called “Avengers Three,” which features Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man in an adventure that spans several eras of time. Marvel didn’t release the teaser image, but it featured an Ed McGuinness-drawn Cap, Iron Man, and Thor being menaced by Thor’s super-powerful enemy the Destroyer.

Look for Parker and Hardman to begin their run in September 2010.
