While neither Batman vs. Superman nor Suicide Squad had a major presence at #NYCC, they did still find ways to participate. Batman vs. Superman had a LexCorp booth, which provided free Wi-Fi for attendees, plus also free LexCorp branded cell phone chargers. Suicide Squad didn’t do anything that flashy or formal, but one of its biggest stars did make a very special appearance. Jared Leto was in attendance and took some photos with Joker and Batman cosplayers, who had no idea who they were taking a picture with.

Like at San Diego Comic-Con when stars like Bryan Cranston and John Boyega walked the convention floor in costume, Leto wore a baboon mask (not sure what kind of cosplay that is, but OK) and took in the sights, posting pictures on Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. One lucky fan, who was cosplaying as Leto’s version of The Joker, even got to take a picture with him, but the poor guy had no idea who he was; he just thought he was being nice to a hipster in a baboon mask.

Potentially interesting is Leto’s note on a Snap of a dude in a Batman costume: “My enemy, my friend.” This could hint at a previous relationship between The Joker and Batman/Bruce Wayne before they found themselves at opposite ends of the law. Or, it could just be Leto screwing around. Maybe it’s best not to read too much into what Jared Leto was typing into Snapchat while wearing a baboon mask.
