However you feel about the first two episodes, Legends of Tomorrow will undoubtedly delight fans with its inclusion of DC gunslinger Jonah Hex, an ideally better treatment than Josh Brolin’s take. We’ll find out in episode 11, now that That Thing You Do! alum Johnathon Schaech takes the role.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, so reads the Legends of Tomorrow description of its Jonah Hex, who may recur beyond the 11th episode:

A true legends of the Old West, a morally ambiguous gunslinger with a penchant for danger. Surprisingly, he knows a thing or two about time travel and the future, but is at home in the Wild West. He’s been battling outlaws and gangs for awhile now, and advises the team to be extra careful when they arrive in the small town of Salvation.

Said executive producer Marc Guggenheim of the inclusion previously:

Ever since we decided that Legends would involve time-travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West. But if you’re going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply must include Jonah Hex in it. We’re thrilled about bringing another well known, beloved DC character to television.

Schaech becomes the second actor to take on the role in live action after Josh Brolin’s 2010 attempt, wherein the character was granted more of a supernatural bent than surly gunslinger.

In the meantime, Legends of Tomorrow will premiere this Thursday on The CW, trailers of which you can find below.
