Early last month, we learned that Netflix had begun development of a new Voltron series under its renewed agreement with DreamWorks, and before any major details have emerged, we already have our first look at the new Legendary Defender series, accompanied by an official logo and glimpse of the new Voltron.

Nerdist caught a look at the first official teaser poster and title for the new series, the first to feature the character since 2011, this time going by the name Voltron: Legendary Defender (not to be confused with those other legendary Defenders):

Previously, the series was described as a “re-imagining” of the classic Voltron, though it’s presumed the same core idea of lion robots combining to form a giant robot will remain in place. For the moment, no official details, cast or creative have been released, though announcements should be made in the coming weeks.

Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender will also join Guillermo del Toro’s Trollhunters project, but does the former look like a worthy re-imagining of the classic franchise? Stay tuned for further details.
