Comics with Problems: NAACP Voting Rights Comic

The “Comics with Problems” archive runs the gamut from Captain Alcoholic, the alcoholic superhero, to Alpha, the judgmental robot who hates pot, with a newly added 1960s NAACP comic encouraging blacks to demand equal rights from politicians through voting power.

For a very different take, another comic champions George Wallace as a hero for his support of segregation, which is a pretty stark reminder that as insane as this seems now during an Obama administration, only 40 years ago this kind of prejudice was not only accepted and championed in polite company but also supported by government law. Something to think about, when you consider the violence and rage still directed at certain minorities today.
