Reebok Offers Ellen Ripley’s Classic Shoes for Alien Day on April 26

If you’ve ever seen James Cameron’s 1986 classic Aliens, you may have noticed the really cool shoes that Sigourney Weaver wears as Ellen Ripley. Reebok will be releasing replicas of those shoes as part of the Alien Day celebration on April 26, which is an event that sees a whole bunch of companies coming together to sell stuff tied to the Alien franchise!

April 26 has been declared Alien Day because the planet where the aliens are discovered in the films is designated LV-426, so 4/26 is the perfect day for it. Unlike Star Wars Day (May the 4th), Alien Day seems to be led by marketers rather than fans. But I’m less concerned with that than with how much these Reeboks are going to cost, because I 100% want to put them on my feet.

While these aren’t the first shoes Reebok has sold based on the custom pair they made for Aliens, the new ones are more accurate to the film, with the extreme high-top outer space look. Cosplayers have also made their own versions over the years, but it’s really exciting to see such an exact replica coming out from Reebok. Reebok will also offer a pair of sneakers based on the shoes worn by Lance Henrikson’s Bishop.

From the official Alien Day press release:

Fox Consumer Products has teamed with an impressive portfolio of licensing partners; showcasing everything from unique apparel to exclusive comic books to high-end collectables. One of the most-requested licensed products, the Reebok Alien Stomper worn by Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, as well as the mid tops worn by Lance Henrikson as the Android Bishop, are being released by Reebok in limited edition to mark ALIEN DAY. The iconic movie sneakers will be available beginning April 26th at and select Reebok stores worldwide.

Other Alien Day merchandise includes new toys and collectibles, including action figures based on Vasquez and Newt, a hardcover collection of Dark Horse’s 1986 comic adaptation of Aliens, and a new ediition of Batman vs. Alien, co-published by Dark Horse and DC. Special screenings of the movie will take place on Alien Day in association with the Alamo Drafthouse.
