You'd never see Marvel Comics' Spider-Man setting a bad example for the youth of America by hanging out on a beach as a dangerous storm looms (unless he were stopping giftshop looters from stealing snow globes or something), but a presumably young dude from Hampton, Va. resident donned the Webslinger's uniform to take in the spectacle of Hurricane Irene's approach at a local beach yesterday. The surfing Spidey told local news outlet WSET he was out to make people laugh so that they'd know the day wasn't all bad. When asked if he thought he should be out in the water, he copped to "not being that smart today," adding that strong swimmers (those without the proportionate strength of a spider?) ought not to take to the sea.
