It's somewhat a tradition, for good or bad, that sequels to superhero movies feature multiple villains, so it should come as no surprise that the upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man may have more than one antagonist. With Jamie Foxx already on board to play Electro,Paul Giamatti is now in talks to play The Rhino in the 2014 film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.Giamatti is certainly an accomplished actor, so his potential addition will likely come as welcome news. Still, it would be interesting to see how The Rhino would be approached. In the comics, he's a character from a Communist Bloc country given a suit that made him super strong, inhumanly fast and nearly invulnerable. Also, he is well known for being somewhat less than intelligent, often in a goofy way. That description wouldn't translate well to a modern film, so changes would almost certainly have to be made.

The Rhino did appear as a character in The Amazing Spider-Man video game, which was based on the film and billed as a canonical sequel of sorts. The Rhino of that game is experimented on by an Oscorp scientist named Dr. Michael Morbius, thus completely abandoning his communist roots.

Of course, if it were up to me, Sony would just film Peter Milligan and Duncan Fegredo's "Flowers For Rhino" story from Tangled Web. I would watch the hell out of that.
