We’ve still got a couple of years before the next Spider-Man reboot, but a new report suggests that we already know who the web-slinging hero will be fighting in his next outing. As previously revealed by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, it won’t be a villain we’ve seen on the big screen before — according to the latest rumor, that’s accurate.

The typically reliable Heroic Hollywood claims that Kraven the Hunter will be the primary villain in the Spider-Man reboot, adding that Karen Moy, the Vice President of Creative Affairs at Sony, recently purchased a copy of Kraven’s Last Hunt. Obviously, a Sony exec purchasing a comic book is hardly news, but from what I’ve heard, HH’s source on this is very legitimate and goes beyond a simple book transaction.

Kraven the Hunter, aka Sergei Kravinoff, is a deranged game hunter seeking the one kill that will make him legendary. Kraven gets it in his head that he must hunt and kill Spider-Man, believing the hero to be his ultimate conquest. Kraven doesn’t use weapons, nor does he have a particular score to settle with Spider-Man, which makes him quite the unnerving villain.

If Kraven is involved in the solo film, that seems indicative of the movie’s scale — a bit smaller than the big, sprawling brawls Spidey has been involved with in previous films. Regardless of the identity of the villain in the reboot, here’s hoping there’s just one big bad and not two or three. Hopefully Sony has learned from their previous mistakes.

Spider-Man will make his debut in Captain America: Civil War on May 6, 2016, followed by Spidey’s new solo movie on July 28, 2017.
