Marvel Selects Black Panther and Captain America for New Figures

Marvel
Marvel

Did you know there's a new Marvel movie coming out in a few months? You did? You must have your finger on the pulse. You probably also knew that Diamond Select had a set of new figures coming to the Marvel Select line based on Captain America: Civil War, including a new Winter Soldier, Captain America and Iron Man. Those three won't be the only Civil War stars getting new Marvel Select figures though.

This week, new Black Panther and Captain America Marvel Select figures were revealed. Though they won't be based on the incarnations from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, any time we can get a new Black Panther figure is a good one. Even though it's not a direct tie-in to another movie, this Captain America figure will bring Steve Rogers one closer to Spider-Man for the record of most Marvel Select figures. Bucky and Black Widow will see re-releases of previous Marvel Select figures, too, but it's really all about the all-new Cap and T'Challa.

The Spectacular Spider-Man is Out and About as Marvel Select’s Next Figure

Marvel
Marvel

If there's one thing I know for certain, it's that there's no such thing as too many Spider-Mans. Hell, Marvel had a huge crossover with a bunch of alternate worlds and their respective Spider-Men, and some of those folks are still kicking around in various forms even though Spider-Verse ended like a decade ago. Well that's how long ago it feels since Marvel's rebooted like three times since the Spider-Verse closed its doors.

Even with all those other webslingers running around, whether its Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, (formerly Ultimate) Spider-Man, Spidey, Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, fans have always had a spot in their hearts for the original recipe Spider-Man. Peter Parker has had a long history, and as such he's built up a tremendous following over decades of existence as the flagship character of the Marvel Universe. That's why it's not all that surprising to see that once again, Spider-Man will be getting his twelfth Marvel Select figure next month.

MEGO Spider-Man Is Reborn In Diamond Select Toys’ Limited Edition Collector’s Set

Diamond Select Retro Spider-Man Collectors Set
Marvel/Diamond Select Toys

Whether a person is old enough to be nostalgic for it from the '70s or simply fell in love with it in the pages of Twisted ToyFare Theatre, for a lot of toy fans the 8" tall MEGO Spider-Man is more or less a must-have. Until now obtaining one has meant shelling out for pricey vintage toys of varying states of disrepair (mine, for example, has half its bare foot sticking out of its jumpsuit), but by the end of 2014 collectors will be able to score a versatile reissue as part of a three-in-one Limited Edition Collector's set from Diamond Select Toys and EMCE Toys.
