Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama is on a roll lately when it comes to expanding the lore of his 42-volume manga series. On top of completing his latest manga, Jaco the Galactic Patrolman and a 12-page Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z prelude story known as Dragon Ball Minus, the creator recently provided siblings Android 17 and Android 18 with some added backstory (and epilogue) in a Q&A in Shueisha's Saikyō Jump.
As a kid watching Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball Z in the mid-late 1990s, I always thought the evil Dr. Gero's androids picked some kinda wacky Western clothes to wear, but these days Android 18 looks more or less like a contemporary teen. Shave half of her head and she'd more or less fit in on any major music video shoot, which makes Bandai's June/July release of the S.H. Figuarts Android 18 action figure just so timely.
S.H. Figuarts figures of Dragon Ball Z's most lethal siblings have been caught chillin' among a crowd of Super Saiyan warriors at the Bluefin Distribution booth. Android 18 is apparently being planned for an unspecified future release, with her less empathetic brother Android 17 currently "for display only."
