Whether it's his illustrious covers for Shadow of the Bat, the many sketches of his that we throw in our Best Art Ever feature, or his recent work on Day Men for BOOM, we're always fascinated by the impeccable design work of Brian Stelfreeze. If you've ever had the pleasure of making his acquaintance, you likely know that Stelfreeze thoroughly enjoys discussing art and design, including taking a stab at his own updates of popular characters from time to time.
Case in point: in recent weeks the venerable artist has been sketching his own redesigns for the Crime Syndicate -- and posting them online at the Fans of Brian Stelfreeze Yahoo Group -- likely inspired by their current reappearance in the pages of DC Comics Forever Evil storyline. Stelfreeze's designs are, as you would expect, very impressive, and very well thought out.
DC Collectibles gave fans a shadowy look at three of its New 52 Crime Syndicate set to roll out in February a few weeks back, but to commemorate this week's launch of Forever Evil #1, the veil has been lifted on the full lineup. Coming in 2014 are roughly 6.75" versions of Ultraman, Superwoman, Power Ring, Johnny Quick (with Atomica) and Owlman, all sporting 24-25 points of articulation.
In the weeks since the release of the teaser graphic above there have been all kinds of rumors and guesses as to the fate of Nightwing in Forever Evil, the latest DC Comics event series in which the villains succeed in taking over the world. Written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by David Finchand on sale now, issue #1 reveals at least one significant part of Nightwing's fate in the crossover and presumably in the broader narrative of the DC Universe going forward.
SPOILER WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for both Forever Evil and Trinity War.
