Following the Batman vs. Superman info dump that came out of Comic-Con, we thought it might be a while before we saw or heard anything from the upcoming superhero movie. After all, we did get an extended new trailer, new images and a new poster. But today, we have three new Batman vs. Superman pics each showing off one of the film’s three main characters: Batman, Superman and Lex Luthor.
Last week we got an extended sneak peek at Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice via the Comic-Con trailer, but that won’t be the trailer you see in theaters — IMAX theaters, to be more specific. A new, alternate version of the trailer has dropped online, so if you don’t make it out to your local IMAX theater in the next couple of weeks, you can watch it right here.
When I watched the Comic-Con panel for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, I thought to myself, “Man, Jesse Eisenberg does not look happy to be here.” That was the understatement of the millennium.
The nice thing about missing Comic-Con is that studios are making it possible for you to enjoy (some of) the fun from the comfort of your home. If you aren’t in San Diego (or you couldn’t get into Hall H today), you can now watch the full Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice panel online. Did you miss out on hearing Ben Affleck talk about the hilarious advice he received from previous Batman Christian Bale? Now you can hear it for yourself.
We haven’t heard much about what Superman mega-villain Lex Luthor will be like in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Rumor has it that Batman will connect with Luthor in his quest to battle Superman, but — aside from the fact that Luthor will be bald — that’s about all we know so far. Jesse Eisenberg has opened up a bit about what we can expect from the character, and promises that his version will not be silly. So that’s good, right?
We’ve been hearing lots of rumors and reports about the cast of the ‘Suicide Squad’ movie over the last couple of months, with Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Tom Hardy, Jared Leto, and more names circling DC’s super-villain project. Much of what’s been reported has often been delivered with a question mark, but today brings official confirmation of the full lineup of David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’—and some of the final casting choices might surprise you, given that they aren’t exactly what we’d heard previously.
In a new interview in Total Film magazine, actor Jesse Eisenberg, who will portray Lex Luthor in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, gives the movie and its writers more than just a ringing endorsement. He says he'd do the movie for no money at all if it was some low-budget flick. "I really liked it on its own terms. I would do it if it was for free and it was tiny."
That seems like quite a stamp of approval. Sure, actors have to talk up their movies for promotion, but saying, "I'd do this for no pay" is a fairly extreme endorsement. And it turns out from the rest of the interview that Eisenberg isn't exactly a fan of the superhero genre -- but he may be coming around.
Each weekday, ComicsAlliance brings you a carefully selected variety of links from around the web about comics and comics-related media, including movies, video games, toys, and whatever else might be worth noting. Quite frankly, these are items you may just need to know about to have a productive day. Take a look at today's hand-picked links after the jump.
Get ready for a younger, thinner, but perhaps less wind-resistant Lex Luthor.
Batman vs. Superman director Zack Snyder has confirmed that noted mop-top Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) will play Superman's nemesis in the new film, quashing rumors that the role would go to Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston or any of the other actors who have been rumored for the role (As CA Senior Editor Andy Khouri noted, maybe someone mistakenly heard "Heisenberg" instead of "Eisenberg"). In another addition, Oscar winner (for the 1990 film Reversal of Fortune) Jeremy Irons will be the Alfred to Ben Affleck's Batman.
