Diamond Select Toys unveiled a surprising amount of new Minimates and other figures this past weekend at C2E2 2014 in Chicago. Filling DST's booth were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Minimates we saw at Toy Fair 2014 (but couldn't shoot at the time), along with the All New X-Men centric Marvel Minimates Series 59, an upcoming 8" Retro Captain America figure, and an upcoming Spider-Man villains Minimates box set.
Whether a person is old enough to be nostalgic for it from the '70s or simply fell in love with it in the pages of Twisted ToyFare Theatre, for a lot of toy fans the 8" tall MEGO Spider-Man is more or less a must-have. Until now obtaining one has meant shelling out for pricey vintage toys of varying states of disrepair (mine, for example, has half its bare foot sticking out of its jumpsuit), but by the end of 2014 collectors will be able to score a versatile reissue as part of a three-in-one Limited Edition Collector's set from Diamond Select Toys and EMCE Toys.

The Mego-meisters at Figures Toy Company have been making 8" action figure waves with their faithful recreations of vintage Batman toys, but this week's image rollout hits like cartoonish onomatopoeia reading "Rad!" A new line consisting of Batman, Robin, Riddler and Joker figures is set to arrive in April, sporting all of FTC's Mego-like style and some very modern touches -- and that's a good thing. After all, these Adam West, Burt Ward, Frank Gorshin and Cesar Romero likeness seem a bit more accurate than what Mego might've manufactured four decades ago.
Mego's storied Worlds Greatest Super Heroes line of the '70s shaped an action figure era with 8" articulated plastic dolls adorned with cloth costumes, but there was a special corner of the line reserved for sidekicks standing just 7" tall. That line? The 1977 Teen Titans series featuring Speedy, Aqualad, Wonder Girl and Kid Flash. Following the release of several waves of Batman Mego reissues, Figures Toy Company is turning its attention to rolling out all four of the previously limited edition dolls in the first quarter of 2014.
Not content to rest on its laurels after this month's release of Batman, Robin, the Riddler and the Joker, Figures Toy Company is set to roll out two more waves of Batman 8" Mego replicas. Come September collectors will be able to pick up Catwoman, Penguin, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson as part of the line's second wave and in February of 2014 Batgirl, Alfred Pennyworth and unmask-able versions of Batman and Robin will be available in wave three.
With Mattel's Retro-Action line of 8" World's Greatest Heroes figures put to bed last year, it seems Figures Toy Company has stepped in to fill the void with actual replicas of Mego's famous '70s dolls beginning with Batman, Robin, The Joker and The Riddler. Expected in comic and specialty stores this July, each figure will sport Mego's signature sculpts, cloth cos

It's kind of hard to believe that Mego-style action figures are still cool in 2010, but that's the exact situation we're looking at here. Mattel's recently launched Retro-Action DC Super Heroes line is absolutely awesome, and fans are in store for further excellence with the announcement of a second wave of Retro-Action toys.
For the upcoming wave, Superman and Green Lantern evacuate the stage in favor of Aquaman and Batman. The villain
