When an Entertainment Weekly cover revealed our first look at Oscar Isaac as the titular villain in X-Men: Apocalypse, most fans were not impressed, drawing comparisons to cheesy Power Rangers villain Ivan Ooze. But, director Bryan Singer is back to defend the costume, saying it’s actually “very similar” to the comic book design, and has shared some new hi-res X-Men: Apocalypse photos at the same time.

Oscar Isaac? Is that you?

Yes, apparently it is. Isaac plays the title villain in the upcoming X-Men sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse. The character, an immortal mutant from ancient Egypt, is typically portrayed with an extremely elaborate harness, weird wire lips, and crazy blue and chalk-white skin. You had to wonder if director Bryan Singer would go another direction with Apocalypse to make Isaac more recognizable to viewers.

20th Century Fox is finally releasing the Rogue Cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past next month, re-incorporating the scenes featuring Anna Paquin’s Rogue, which director Bryan Singer had to leave on the cutting room floor. Singer previously explained that the Rogue scenes were excised because they were “extraneous,” but that didn’t stop fans from wanting to see the alternate version. Fox has released a clip from the Rogue Cut to give you a little taste of what that version will look like.

X-Men: Days of Future Past isn't even in theaters yet, but details regarding the next movie in the franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, are already making their way out into reports.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer revealed that the movie, as one might assume, will at least partially be based on the "Age of Apocalypse" storyline from the mid-1990s, though " won’t necessarily create an alternate universe."

This weekend's X-Men: Days of Future Past panel at Comic-Con featured four actors who play two mutants: Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy, who have portrayed Professor Charles Xavier in four combined films, and Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender, two actors who've starred as the mutant revolutionary Magneto.
