Star Wars icon Mark Hamill will soon reprise one of his most legendary roles, and we’re not talking about Luke Skywalker. The Force Awakens star will return to different roots for The CW’s The Flash in an upcoming episode, reprising his role from the 1990s CBS series as DC villain The Trickster, but with a tricky twist!

According to HitFix, the erstwhile Luke Skywalker will pop up in episode 17 of The Flash as an incarcerated elder James Jesse, while a new version of the Trickster character picks up the former's mantle in Central City. Not only will the Iron Heights incarnation reunite Hamill with original 1990 Flash nemesis John Wesley Shipp, but this will mark the second time Hamill has reprised the role, following a vocal appearance as The Trickster on Justice League Unlimited.

Says The CW’s press release and executive producer Andrew Kreisberg of the addition:

Mark Hamill returns in a brand new interpretation of James Jesse (aka The Trickster), a role he originated on the 90's ‘Flash’ series. In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps. The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original ‘Flash’ on the CBS version.

Having Mark reprise his role as The Trickster was on our original wish list when we were planning our version of The Flash. Christmas and Chanukah came early for us this year when he said yes! We are beyond humbled and excited to have him joining us for another round of deadly trickery!

The Flash will still have quite a bit to deal with in the immediate future, between Reverse Flash, Captain Cold and Heat Wave, but what say you? Are you excited to see Mark Hamill returning to The Flash as the Trickster? How do you think a revitalized Luke Skywalker will fare against the CW speedster?
