The countdown is on to Incredibles 2.

The fact that Pixar and Disney are working on a sequel to the popular superhero cartoon is no secret; Incredibles creator Brad Bird’s been talking about writing the script for a while (he was “three-quarters” of the way through it last month), and the first poster for the movie made its debut at last summer’s D23 convention. Those are promising steps, but tentative ones, with no clear indication when (or even if) we’ll ever actually see the movie.

But along with today’s news of an Ant-Man and the Wasp movie from Marvel, Disney’s announced the official release dates of a whole bunch of upcoming projects. Via Variety, we now know exactly when The Incredibles 2 will hit theaters: June 21, 2019.

That’s a long ways away, almost four full years. That gives you a sense of just how hard and time-consuming these Pixar movies are to make (and why a guy like Bird might have wanted to take a break from that grind to pop off a few live-action movies like Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland). I know a lot of people think Pixar’s gotten too sequel-focused in recent years, and maybe they have. But if have to have Pixar sequels, The Incredibles 2 is the one I want. Bird invented a really rich world in the first movie, but barely scratched its surface. Now’s the time to take that to the next level.

(All right technically 2019 is the time to take that to the next level. But you know what I mean.)
