Tokyopop Goes Digital With Zinio

Headlines regarding digital manga In North America have had a tendency to include the words “piracy” and/or “scanslations” lately, but Tokyopop’s recent partnership with digital producer and distributor marks a legitimate step in making material available to more readers in more places.

Zinio’s Tokyopop shop
is currently stocked with both original English language content like Dan Hipp’s “Gyakushu!” as well as the localized Korean manwha “The Tarot Café” by Sang-Sun Park. Japanese creator Maki Murakami’s “Gravitation” will reportedly be available soon, along with other titles from the various corners of mangadom.

So far each volume is priced at $5.99, giving digital customers about a $4 break from the cover price of Tokyopop’s conventional print volumes. Files are available for both PC and MAC, meaning tech savvy buyers shouldn’t have much of a problem getting each offering onto their mobile device of choice.[Via ICv2]
