Preacher: Dead or Alive coverRemember the reports earlier this year that Preacher was headed to HBO, courtesy of writer/director Mark Steven Johnson and under the watchful eye of creators/producers Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon?

Well, if, like me, you've been wondering about the status of the show and were concerned over the fact that no mention was made of Preacher in a recent HBO press release announcing upcoming series which are currently in production, you may be pleased to hear that more information has come to light. On the other hand, you may not. Read on.

According to industry insiders, it seems that production on the much-loved Vertigo series is on the very cusp of rolling except for the fact that HBO execs can't seem to make up their minds to give the final go-ahead necessary. Personally, given the muddleheaded thinking involved here, I'm willing to bet that these are the same execs responsible for the untimely cancellation of John from Cincinnati, the finest and most promising new series on televison since The Wire, but that's neither here nor there.

What's most important, however, is that if you want to see Preacher on HBO (and you know you do), it's time to let your voice be heard. The esteemed Rob Worley broke the news of the production logjam and provided all of the necessary contact information for the appropriate folks to contact at HBO in his piece at comics2film.com. I strongly encourage you to heed Rob's call and do your bit to help get this show on the air. Cheers.
