Responding to Acting Auditions' plot synopsis for the live action Akira film on the way from Warner Bros., Curious Old Library's Chris Schweizer has illustrated his tongue-in-cheek excitement for a film that seems desperate to deviate from Katsuhiro Otomo's manga source material as much as possible. Known as "White Akira" among detractors, the upcoming film will basically be unrecognizable to fans if it winds up starring an almost exclusively non-Japanese cast (including TRON: Legacy star Garret Hedlund and Breaking Dawn's Kristen Stewart) changing the setting from Tokyo to modern New York City and dropping a teenage biker gang leader behind the bar of a tavern. Provided white Kaneda pours cheap well drinks with the help of his trusty motorcycle, however, all will be forgiven.
