A couple of months ago it was reported that Warner Bros. had offered a role in Wonder Woman to Nicole Kidman, with many speculating that the actress would be portraying Hippolyta, a major Amazonian warrior queen and the mother of Gal Gadot’s Diana. When the official lineup was revealed, Kidman’s name was missing and Robin Wright was on the roster, leading us to assume that Wright had taken Kidman’s role — not so fast, as it appears that the studio is considering a shake-up…or maybe not?

Variety’s Justin Kroll posted an update on the Wonder Woman casting, revealing that Kidman was indeed offered the role of Hippolyta, though her schedule wouldn’t allow her to participate. As for Wright, her role is currently unknown and unconfirmed, but it seems as though WB is considering either giving her the role of Hippolyta or another part if they find a better fit to replace Kidman:

We honestly have no clue about who Wright could be playing — another Amazonian, the villainous Circe (WB was previously eyeing Eva Green for this part), a government figure, Steve Trevor’s mom…who knows.

But with Kidman out of the picture, it looks like WB is considering a potential shake-up. Hopefully we’ll know a little more soon.

Gadot will make her Wonder Woman debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016. Her solo film arrives on June 23, 2017.
