Lego Brickheadz Finally Come to the Masses in Marvel and DC Flavors
Lego has never been at a shortage of simple and easy sets for its fans to build. Sure the more extravagant pieces get all the attention, but sometimes you just want a budget-friendly little set for your desk to show off your construction skills. This past San Diego Comic-Con saw Lego take that idea even farther, and offer small character building sets in the vein of Funko Pops called Lego Brickheadz.
Originally only available as two-packs exclusively at SDCC, the Lego Brickheadz are finally available for the rest of the collecting public. Featuring some of your favorite characters from the Marvel and DC universes, Lego Brickheadz might finally give Funko a run for its money in the emotionless pop culture figure arena.
You Will Never Need Another Toy in Your Life as Much as This Nendoroid Tracer
For all the delight fans have gotten from Blizzard's Overwatch, there's been very little in the way of collectibles to show your appreciation outside of the game itself. Though a few Funko Pops have made the rounds, and some blind box figures are just now hitting the market, no true action figures from the amazingly designed world of Overwatch have been released. Thankfully, the good people over at Good Smile have managed to ignite hope where once there was none.
Coming this summer will be a Nendoroid based on Overwatch's "mascot" Tracer. The adorable British hero will be bringing her style and charm to the chibi world, and could just be the tip of the Overwatch Nendoroid iceberg.
Cheetah, Catwoman and Poison Ivy Ramp up the Rogues Count in ‘Injustice 2′
February has been a good month for Injustice 2 character reveals and gameplay videos. After going virtually radio silent since August, NetherRealm Studios has bestowed video after video, reveal after reveal upon us this month. Given that there's currently a beta going (which we'd love to get into, NetherRealm), it only makes sense the developer would share more information as players got more and more hands-on time with the fighting game sequel.
After announcing Black Canary, Damian Wayne as Robin and Swamp Thing already, a brief spotlight video highlights three more femme fatales from the DC Universe making their appearances in Injustice 2. Catwoman is returning, but she'll be joined by newcomers Poison Ivy and Cheetah to keep the rest of the heroes in check.
Mattel is in the Ama-Zone With Its New Wonder Woman Action Doll Line
You cannot find a more important woman in comics than Wonder Woman. She's the first to get her own solo movie (that actually counts, Catwoman), and with that, comes all the benefits of merchandising tie-ins. Not that it's been a challenge to find Wonder Woman collectibles before this film, but now we're getting a whole new wave of figures, accessories more directly tied to her anticipated silver screen success.
Mattel's already been on board the Wonder Woman train for a long time --- as it has been with all of DC's characters and properties --- but the company never invested in a full line based solely on the Amazon princess before. Ahead of the feature film, Mattel is going full Frozen with Wonder Woman, giving its star an action doll line all her own, and one that shows a terrific evolution of the DC Super Hero Girls line.
Swamp Thing Will Be the Guardian of Injustice 2’s Earth
As we draw closer to the arrival of NetherRealm Studios' Injustice 2, the developer continues teasing us with roster reveals for the upcoming fighting game set in an alternate DC Universe. While to this point we've mostly seen some of the more traditional heroes and villains from the comics make their way into the game, today's announcement came out of left field.
The Guardian of Earth himself, the Swamp Thing, will be joining the fight between Batman and Superman (and Brainiac) this May. Thanks to a new gameplay trailer, we now know how Swamp Thing will attempt to bring green peace to the world of Injustice.
Best Buddies Hulk and Thor Join Marvel Legends 12-Inch Line
By the rate Hasbro is going, there won't be very many things left to reveal at Toy Fair this year. Already we've seen the Spider-Man: Homecoming teases in a variety of lines, but now we're also getting a look at what's to come from the Marvel Legends 12" figures. The 12" figures made their debut last year with Captain America and Iron Man setting the pace to tie into Captain America: Civil War. Spider-Man followed close behind, but now even more Avengers are about to join in on the fun. Oh, and Deadpool is here too.
Batgirl’s Latest DC Collectibles Figure Cements Her Status as a DC Icon [Review]
Since becoming the cornerstone of the DC Collectibles action figure line, the DC Icons series has been filled with some terrific interpretations of our favorite heroes. With Icons, DC Collectibles has picked and chosen some of the best iterations of DC Comics' massive catalog of characters, ranging from classic stories from the '80s all the way up through the New 52. Though the DC Icons figures have yet to truly touch the Rebirth era, a few New 52 holdovers have made the cut, including the newest deluxe edition figure, Batgirl of Burnside.
Based on the revamped Batgirl from Cameron Stewart, Brenden Fletcher and Babs Tarr's run on her solo title, the DC Icons Batgirl of Burnside is stylish, well-sculpted and comes with a wicked ride. Most importantly however, Batgirl serves as an example of the greatness Icons could achieve.
Mezco’s Toy Fair Teasers Include One:12 Collective Batman, Doctor Strange and Popeye
Ahead of Toy Fair 2017, Mezco held a special event for the media showcasing some of its upcoming products. Due to the weather on the east coast, we were unable to attend, but Mezco didn't want everyone to miss out on the sneak peeks offered at the exclusive event. Shortly after it ended, the toy manufacturer posted a number of teaser photos of some One:12 Collective figures coming in 2017 and beyond. While expected Batman and Wolverine toys were nice to see, it's the likes of Popeye and Doctor Strange that have us itching to get our hands on Mezco's planned products.
New ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Marvel Legends Show Web-Wing Spidey, New Iron Man Armor
I don't know if it's just this year, but it certainly feels like Hasbro is showing off a lot of its planned Toy Fair secrets a little early this year. Not that I'm not glad to see what's in store before the annual convention takes place next weekend. That goes double for any early peeks we're getting regarding Spider-Man: Homecoming. Though much of what's to come is still a closely guarded secret, Hasbro has revealed today four new figures coming to the Marvel Legends line under the Spider-Man banner.
What's more, the figures aren't just all focused on the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler.
Hasbro’s Marvel Legends Lines Up Some Cinematic Two-Packs For Spring
You can tell it's just about Toy Fair season because nearly every day this February has been filled with toy news of some kind. Hasbro might be leading the pack on that front, with a number of sneak peeks and previews of the upcoming Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series line-ups. Not that we're complaining at all, mind you. Getting an early look at the toys that will be stretching our wallets this year is always a nice treat. Especially when we're getting even more figures in the 3.75" arena.
Announced this week, Hasbro will be releasing a number of Marvel Cinematic Universe two-packs, featuring some of our favorite characters from Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming.
