As often tends to be the case with TV, Finn Jones winning the role of Marvel’s Netflix Iron Fist brought troubling implications for his Game of Thrones role as Loras Tyrell, last seen being whisked off to a dungeon in Season 5. Jones will at least return for Season 6, but also claims that Iron Fist and The Defenders wouldn’t prevent him from doing both. Don’t bet on it, though.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Jones downplayed the suggestion that Iron Fist might have dark implications for his time on Game of Thrones, particularly in light of his character’s predicament under the ruthless High Sparrow. Says the actor, currently in New York for pre-production:

I can definitely do both shows. Just because I’ve signed up for this job doesn’t cancel me out from doing more seasons of Thrones.

Sure … except for the part where Jones spends the better part of 2016 filming the first season of Iron Fist, before launching almost immediately into The Defenders miniseries production this same year. It’s at least plausible of HBO to fly Jones from New York to Ireland (or any other locales) for brief Season 7 appearances, but it’s something of a stretch, given the rigorous scheduling involved.

If nothing else, future Loras will probably appear noticeably buff for a prisoner, as Jones says of his current training:

Every day for the last month, I start my day with about two and a half hours of martial arts – which is kung fu and wushu mixed with a bit of tai chi, and other stuff as well. In the afternoon I’ll do weight training with a trainer to bulk me up and get my physically right for the part. And in evenings I’ve been doing meditation classes and learning buddhist philosophies.

The sixth season of Game of Thrones will surely answer questions of Loras’ fate (and for more on that, check out our latest trailer breakdown), but might the actor really do both? Will Iron Fist have the Knight of Flowers all to himself?
