In a little over a month, Lego Marvel's Avengers will finally arrive, bringing the Marvel Cinematic Universe together with the comics in one gigantic package. The massive adventure will encompass a number of the MCU films, including The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Iron Man 3, and Thor: The Dark World. However, the game won't just be limited to those strict storylines, and will also feature a number of open world areas to explore.

The latest trailer for Lego Marvel's Avengers shows off these numerous areas, which are all based on the movies, but will allow you to explore as any number of characters from the movies or comics. Plus, it will be the first time we ever get to see much of places like Barton's Farm, SHIELD headquarters, Sokovia, and South Africa beyond the movies themselves. Sure, we were there, but the quick glimpses and action sequences made it a bit of a challenge to really take in the areas as a whole.

As cool as all those locations are, the more exciting news from the trailer is all the previously unknown characters that were just confirmed for the final game. Stalwarts like Captain America, Thor, Loki and all the Iron Men you can handle were a given, but I don't think anyone expected Gorilla Girl and Butterball to make the cut.

You'll also notice characters like Firebird and White Tiger in the mix, along with the movie versions of Falcon, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. You might also spot Moon Knight palling around with A-Bomb, which is certainly one of the stranger team-ups you could come up with. Plus, it looks like you'll finally be able to decide which Marvel character has the best fuchsia hair, Diamondback or Jewel. That's not to mention all the unexpected but previously announced characters like Count Nefaria, Swordsman, Wendigo, Mantis, and countless others that aren't on display in this footage.

In the quest to provide the largest roster of characters in a Lego video game to date, TT Games is certainly bringing a lot of fan-favorites from the second, third, seventh, and tenth tiers into the fold. There are still plenty of characters we haven't seen yet, which has me optimistic a full Young Avengers team might be possible. I'll reserve myself from holding out hope that the Runaways make the final game, so long as Kate Bishop, Eli Bradley, Cassie Lang and Nathaniel Richards somehow find a way to join America Chavez, Wiccan, Speed and Hulkling.
