Cast Party: Who Should Star in an 'Angela' Movie?
Welcome to Cast Party, the feature that imagines a world with even more live action comic book adaptations than we currently have, and comes up with arguably the best casting suggestions you’re ever going to find for the movies and shows we wish could exist. This week we’re looking at a comic that just wrapped up yesterday: Angela: Queen of Hel, written by Marguerite Bennett, with art by Stephanie Hans and Kim Jacinto.

Welcome to Cast Party, the feature that imagines a world with even more live action comic book adaptations than we currently have, and comes up with arguably the best casting suggestions you’re ever going to find for the movies and shows we wish could exist. This week we're focused on a current comic for the first time in a while, and imaging a movie based on Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, by Amy Reeder, Brandon Montclare, and Natacha Bustos.

Welcome to Cast Party, the feature that imagines a world with even more live action comic book adaptations than we currently have, and comes up with arguably the best casting suggestions you’re ever going to find for the movies and shows we wish could exist. This week we’re returning to Jack Kirby‘s Fourth World, for the next chapter in my imaginary film series, The Forever People.

Welcome to Cast Party, the feature that imagines a world with even more live action comic book adaptations than we currently have, and comes up with arguably the best casting suggestions you’re ever going to find for the movies and shows we wish could exist. This week we're departing from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it, to imagine a whole new Hawkeye. I've said it before, and I'm far from the only one: A Netflix series based on the Hawkeye book by Matt Fraction, David Aja, and Annie Wu (and Javier Pulido and a few other artists) would be amazing. But Marvel can't make it in their shared universe, because Jeremy Renner's probably not up for it (and he's wrong for this version of the character anyway), and because movie Hawkeye is a family man who lives in the country, not a New York loser who'd go to war over an apartment building.

Welcome to Cast Party, the feature that imagines a world with even more live action comic book adaptations than we currently have, and comes up with arguably the best casting suggestions you’re ever going to find for the movies and shows we wish could exist. This week, we're looking at one of the most fun comics Marvel has published in years, Nick Spencer and Steve Leiber's The Superior Foes of Spider-Man. This is a comic about villains, so we're going to need people who can play utter heels, but still remain likable and maybe even relateable. I've picked out some of the finest performers in the world for this dream movie, and as is tradition here on Cast Party, there may be a wrestler or two thrown in there where appropriate.

Cast Party: 'Superman Burns Batman at the Stake': The Movie
It seems people are interested in Batman and Superman fighting, so I figured, why should there be just one movie about that? This week I decided to go back much farther than Dark Knight Returns to find a classic Batman versus Superman story to adapt for the big screen. I chose a two-parter from World's Finest Comics #186-187. "The Bat-Witch" and "The Demon Superman" were written by the legendary Bob Kanigher, with pencils by Ross Andru and inks by Mike Esposito.

Welcome to Cast Party, the feature that imagines a world with even more live action comic book adaptations than we currently have, and comes up with arguably the best casting suggestions you’re ever going to find for the movies and shows we wish could exist. This week we're doing one that's been in the back of my mind for a while: A Disney Uncle Scrooge movie. This movie will of course be an epic, globe-trotting adventure for the whole family. It'll be based primarily on the comics by Carl Barks and Don Rosa, but I've incorporated elements and characters from the classic Ducktales TV series, mostly because they already solved some of the problems of adaptation. Uncle Scrooge himself would be the first to point out that it's wasteful to reinvent the wheel.

This week we’re imagining a movie I'd really like to see: an adaptation of the Doom Patrol, specifically the classic Silver Age team created by Arnold Drake and Bruno Premiani.

Welcome to Cast Party, the feature that imagines a world with even more live action comic book adaptations than we currently have, and comes up with arguably the best casting suggestions you’re ever going to find for the movies and shows we wish could exist. This week I'm finally following through on a promise I made in the very first Cast Party, and envisioning a Black Canary movie.

Welcome to Cast Party, the feature that imagines a world with even more live action comic book adaptations than we currently have, and comes up with arguably the best casting suggestions you’re ever going to find for the movies and shows we wish could exist. This week we’re visiting a concept that has yet to be done justice in a movie, but one that clearly has potential. The Fantastic Four, Jack Kirby and Stan Lee's most impressive co-creation, will certainly get another movie sooner or later, because Fox doesn't want to give up the rights. And obviously I have opinions on how to finally do it justice.
