The Other All-Star Batman: Converse Puts The Dark Knight On Your Feet
If you're looking for a Dark Knight of the sole, Converse has you covered, with two new designs for Batman high-tops to mark the 30th Anniversary of The Dark Knight Returns featuring "artwork from the Batman comic archives."
Now, the 30th Anniversary of DKR sounds like a pretty flimsy pretext to make some Batman shoes that don't even feature that specific take on the character. But honestly, these shoes are cool enough to stand on their own. Let's take a closer look
This pair features a collage of panels that appear to be from the mid-1960s, with Batman in his "New Look" outfit and Catwoman in her pre-Newmar purple costume. When it comes to that specific niche of shoes for adults with superheroes on them, these are pretty rad.
And then you have the Chuck Taylors Batman himself might wear, if he wore Chuck Taylors. These are black leather with little embossed bats on them. The black on black is hard to see in a photograph, but they look like they'd be pretty neat up close. Here's the official word from Converse:
This year, DC Comics is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Frank Miller’s seminal comic series of “The Dark Knight Returns.” Converse has created a premium Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 collection that uses a variety of artwork from the Batman comic archives over the last 77 years. Key features of the sneaker include premium leather with emboss detail, satin lining and iconic archive comics printed on a premium canvas upper. Each style includes an embossed Batman logo on the tongue, a Chuck Taylor patch, a rubber glow-in-the-dark collectible hang tag and an ice outsole with an archive print story underneath, with archive artwork on the sock liner.
You can check out more photos of the shoes below, and if you like what you see, they're available in stores today, October 1 2016.
