Despite siring a major motion picture, a corresponding video game and toys, Bryan Lee O'Malley's "Scott Pilgrim" hadn't quite made the leap to animation...until now! Slashfilm reports that at around midnight on August 12 Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block will air, "Scott Pilgrim vs the Animation," during the commercial breaks of its regular programming.

Animated by Titmouse, Inc. in conjunction with Universal's release of "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World," the series of shorts are voiced by members of the movie cast and flesh out the film's Scott/Kim Pine secret origin (my words, not theirs) with scenes from O'Malley's graphic novels. Mae Whitman, who plays Roxy Richter in the SP film, will be doing double duty voicing Scott's might-have-been high school flame Lisa Miller in the short. Likewise, Jason Schwartzman will voice Simon Lee, Kim Pine's ex-boyfriend and one of Scott's earliest foes.Slashfilm's debuted two clips from the shorts so far. One showcases Scott and Lisa's first meeting, while the other serves as a commercial for the special stating "'Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World' is almost in theaters. If you don't already love it, you will. We want to marry it, so we made this animated short straight from the comic and put it on TV."

If you're Cartoon Networkless? Don't fret. Adult Swim plans to put the short online and on Facebook not long after they air on cable.
