There's been a real resurgence among tabletop gaming in the past few years; whether it's board games, roleplaying adventures or deck-building card games, the market is booming with new licenses and takes on traditional gameplay mechanics. Yesterday, Renegade Games announced it was partnering with Oni Press for a Scott Pilgrim themed deck-building game that forces players to choose between the easy path of violence or the mature route of empathy.

Fantastic Five: Best Musical Acts [Music Week]
If there’s one thing we’ve learned from our years on the Internet, it’s that there’s no aspect of comics that can’t be broken down and quantified in a single definitive list, preferably in amounts of five or ten. And since there’s no more definitive authority than ComicsAlliance, we’re taking it upon ourselves to compile Top Five lists of everything you could ever want to know about comics. In celebration of the unique relationship between comics and music, we've put together five of the best fictional musical acts in mainstream comics.

Strip Panel Naked: Music Notation as Storytelling
It's Music Week here at ComicsAlliance, and I wanted to take some time to dive into a very particular relationship between music and comics. Comics obviously are silent, so musical numbers are particularly tough to pull off. Getting the actual sound across, the lyricism, the melody - it's a challenge. I want to take a look at three examples of music in comics that all use a particular approach with notation. By using the staves of sheet music, and placing notes on the page, these three comics manage to provide an extra depth to their storytelling.

Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life, the first volume of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim series of graphic novels, was published on this day, August 18, in 2004. It introduced the twentysomething Torontonian slacker to the world, and secured Bryan Lee O’Malley a place in the comics canon.

Last July, Mondo hit San Diego Comic-Con hard with the first looks at a number of all-new toys and statues from its collectibles division. Though the Austin-based art gallery built its reputation on curating original screen prints for films, recent years have seen Mondo expand its horizons to clothing, music and figures. Many of the collectibles on display last year were in their earliest stages, and merely shown to give a glimpse into the future of Mondo's plans. While figures like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Baby Hellboy have since been announced, many of us have been waiting for the Scott Pilgrim vs The World Ramona Flowers collectible figure to arrive. Today, we can exclusively announce the details and offer the first official images of Mondo's Ramona Flowers collectible figure.

And since there’s no more definitive authority than ComicsAlliance, we’re taking it upon ourselves to compile Top Five lists of everything you could ever want to know about comics. Comic fans and video game fans are two groups that share an awful lot of overlap, and webcomics like Penny Arcade and artists like Zac Gorman, have made all kinds of comics about video games for the internet, but what about actual comic books? In a previous video, we told you about five video games that deserved comics, but this week, it’s all about some of the very best video games that have made the leap from consoles to comic pages.

In recent months, commemorative poster-creating powerhouse Mondo has expanded its reach to more realms of film-inspired memorabilia. While the Austin-based company has been pumping out vinyl soundtracks, VHS re-releases and clothing options, to name a few, Mondo has only just begun dipping its toes into the figure and statue game. However, this year at San Diego Comic-Con, Mondo made a big splash, offering early looks at a variety of new comic and movie-based pieces inspired by some of the most iconic characters and creators of our generation. We spoke with Mondo's Creative Director of Toys and Collectibles, Brock Otterbacher, about the company's fresh slate of offerings, and how he hoped to stand out in an ever-crowding market. With new items based on Hellboy and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the way, Mondo is clearly setting the bar high for itself. Factor in the wealth of artists and creatives at Mondo's disposal, and you have a company that seems poised to make a major dent in the collectible space (and wallets) in 2015 and beyond.

The Superpoll Round IV: Prattworld vs. Evansworld
Chris Evans and Chris Pratt have made a bet on the outcome of this weekend's Super Bowl that will see one of them show up at the other's choice of children's hospital or hospice in their Marvel superhero costume brandishing their rival's team colors. Either Captain America will carry the flag of Pratt's Seattle Seahawks, or Star-Lord will don the jersey of Evans's New England Patriots. We couldn't let this titanic tussle between two of Marvel's super-Chrisses pass by without a contest of our own, so we're pitting the worlds of Star-Lord and Captain America head-to-head in a series of polls that we call... the Superpoll. Round three saw Avengers take on Guardians, and it looked like it might go either way, but at the time of this writing the Guardians could dominate two of the five contests thanks to Groot and Rocket Raccoon, while the Avengers are pulling ahead in three thanks to Black Widow, Hulk, and Hawkeye -- who has astonishingly pulled off an upset against a troll doll. But everything could still change, as today we explore the cinematic worlds and nerdy careers of Chris Pratt and Chris Evans. Welcome to the Superpoll: Round III.
