Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may be down and out until 2017, but we’ll at least have six-part digital tie-in Slingshot to tide us over. One of the episodes will also mark a milestone for Marvel, as chief creative officer Joe Quesada makes his directorial debut.

Per IGN, Quesada directed the premiere installment of the new six-part series, which debuts all episodes on ABC’s website on December 13. As outlined in the featurette below, Quesada even storyboarded the episode in comic panels:

The six-part series will debut digitally on December 13, while the full synopsis reads:

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot takes place shortly before the beginning of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4. The digital series features Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, an Inhuman with the ability to move at super-speed. As a person with powers, she must sign the Sokovia Accords. However, the restrictions of the Accords are in direct conflict with a personal mission she’s desperate to fulfill, one that will test her abilities and will include tense encounters with S.H.I.E.L.D. team members.

Time will tell if S.H.I.E.L.D. is in any way testing the water for a new series (those rumors of a Ghost Rider spinoff are probably more likely) but will Slingshot tied fans over until the 2017 return?
