Wonder Woman Stands at the Ready as Sideshow’s Latest Premium Format Figure
If the world was short on Wonder Woman collectibles in the past, that soon won't be an issue any longer. Since the cinematic debut of the Amazonian warrior princess in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman has been a big part of collectible lines from a number of companies like Matte, DC Collectibles, and Sideshow Collectibles. It's not that Diana wasn't getting any attention in the past, but her percentages compared to Batman and Superman have surely improved over the past year.
2017 should be even better for Wonder Woman, what with her own movie coming out and all, but there are still some folks making up ground on her arrival last year. Such is the case with the new Premium Format Figure from Sideshow, which shows Wonder Woman readying for battle against Doomsday at the conclusion of Batman V Superman.
Black Canary Answers the Call in the Latest Injustice 2 Gameplay Trailer
New details and characters for Injustice 2 are flowing like water now that 2017 is picking up steam. After being silent on the game's roster since August of last year, NetherRealm Studios has divulged two new characters for the upcoming fighting sequel in nearly as many weeks. That can only mean even more character announcements are on the way, but I'm getting ahead of myself. First, we've got to talk about Black Canary bringing the noise in the latest gameplay trailer.
Medicom’s Spider-Man: Homecoming Figure is Already the Best New Spidey Figure
There are few superhero movies we here at ComicsAlliance are looking forward to more than Spider-Man: Homecoming. After years of trying, it seems like Sony and Marvel may have finally found the right combination of elements to make this franchise enjoyable again. Fortunately, that means any tie-in merchandise is actually going to be worth tracking down. Or maybe I should say it's unfortunate because my wallet is going to be feeling the pain if this new Medicom MAFEX Spider-Man is any indication the kind of amazing figures we're going to get for this movie.
Image at 25: The Sad History of Image Comics Video Games
Comic books and video games go together like pork chops and applesauce. Video games make the perfect playground for characters with abilities that are larger than life, and over the years we've been graced with a number of strong contenders for the best comic book video game. But like most creative ventures, not every swing results in a hit.
Despite not being around nearly as long as Marvel or DC, Image has had its fair share of video games based on the properties it's published. While lately the Image Comics gaming universe has had a string of successes with the likes of The Walking Dead from Telltale Games and The Darkness from Starbreeze, the going wasn't always this good. In fact, at times, it was downright discouraging.
Image at 25: How ‘Battle Chasers’ Brought the JRPG to Comics
Back in 1998, my comic hobby was fledgling at best. There was a decent local shop, but at the close of my junior year of high school, I had other priorities for where my money was being allocated. Still, when I could, I'd stop by and pick up some books just to see what had been happening since I fell out of the hobby after the conclusion of "The Phalanx Covenant."
But as luck would have it, all it would take for me to get invested once again was the familiar style of Joe Madureira calling to me from the shelves. Four years away from the hobby, and his distinctive style was still burned in my brain. I'd never seen anything like Battle Chasers as a comic before, but after flipping through the pages, I was hooked. Here was one of my favorite creators and he was bringing Japanese role-playing games to comics. It was a high school gamer's dream come true.
Hasbro Teases a First Look at New ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Toys Coming This Year
I'm not one to get my hopes up for a movie based on the tie-in toys, but dang it, Hasbro is putting out a Spider Racer vehicle that shoots Nerf darts as part of its Spider-Man: Homecoming plans, and now I'm hoping we get to see a Spider-Buggy of some sort in the movie. It's not going to happen. I know that. But the idea has been planted by these toys, and now it's all I want from this movie... aside from two hours of Tom Holland charming the pants off everyone in the theater.
The Spider Racer is just one of a few Homecoming toys Hasbro has teased for the upcoming feature ahead of this year's Toy Fair. Want to know what else is in the works? Then you'll just have to read on, provided you can stop thinking about how awesome a canon Spider-Buggy would be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Team With Marvel for ‘The Avengers Project’
Though Marvel's been content to let its mobile games do all the heavy lifting when it comes to officially licensed video games set in the Marvel Universe as of late, it seems that a return to consoles isn't that far off. Today, Marvel announced a new partnership with Square Enix, along with Square's studios Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, to develop a new game dubbed The Avengers Project. While we don't know much about what it is just yet, we do know the two studios involved have a strong pedigree for action games, and this one will definitely feature the Avengers.
Robin Takes on Batman in the Latest Injustice 2 Gameplay Trailer
If you've been paying attention to Damian Wayne for even just a little while, you already know he's one Robin you don't want to cross. Batman's son is just that much of a bad little dude. Depending on which alternate timeline you believe happens, he also grows up to be Batman, or in the case of Injustice, he sticks around as Robin after maybe not-so-accidentally killing Nightwing. Five years after the events of the first game, Damian is back, and judging by this new trailer for Injustice 2, he's still just as angry with his father as ever.
Mondo’s New Statue Offers a Quinn Full of Harley With Her 45s
Back in 2014, Mondo released a Harley Quinn print by Matt Taylor at San Diego Comic-Con that was both beautiful and managed to capture Harley in a way we'd never really seen her before. The print was so popular, Mondo decided to make a statue capturing Harley Quinn in her room listening to her favorite records. We've seen the piece a few times now in prototype form, but now the pre-orders have opened, and we can't throw our money at the screen fast enough.
Thanks to Hot Toys, Now You Can Hang Out With Harley Quinn in Belle Reve
If you thought there was only going to be one Harley Quinn figure released from Hot Toys, then you clearly don't know the power of Harleen Quinzel. She was a multimedia superstar well before this film arrived, and her star is only going to shine brighter thanks to Margot Robbie's portrayal and subsequent "solo" film, Gotham City Sirens. Though the more iconic version of the character from Suicide Squad already got her action figure debut, Hot Toys is all about those variants, including this Bell Reve Prisoner iteration.
