Movie Batman Christian Bale Makes A Four-Year-Old Cancer Patient’s Dream Come True

How great is Christian Bale? Wait, before you answer that based on his performances in Christopher Nolan's Batman movies or his recent trip to visit victims of the Aurora shootings, you might want to read this story about a four-year-old who really, really wanted to meet the man who played Batman.The four-year-old in question's name is Jayden Barber, and he's a brave kid who is currently fighting cancer for the second time, having previously beaten it back in 2010 at the age of two. Told by doctors in July that he had six months to live, he made a wish list of things he wanted to do before he passed, and his parents and friends did their best to make those things come true: He got to vacation on the beach, he got a new puppy... but somehow, the idea of introducing Jayden to Batman seemed just a little bit out of reach.

Not that people didn't try. Not only did the local community launch a Facebook campaign to lure Christian Bale to Youngstown, Ohio, in order to meet the youngster, but the town also threw a Batman-themed event in the local football stadium where Jayden was allowed to light a Batsignal and ride in the Batmobile. But still, Christian Bale wasn't available to make an appearance.

Before you think that the point of this story is that Bale is too busy for fans, here's the important part: Bale, having found out about Jayden's wish, flew the four-year-old and his entire family out to Disneyland last week for what's being described as "an intimate lunch." "Finally can share!!! Christian sent us to LA and we had lunch at Disney club 33 on wed!! He and his family were so awesome and down to earth!!!" wrote Charlene Barber on the "Lighting the Batsignal for Jayden!" page. Describing the meeting, she wrote,

The entire interaction was like old friends having lunch. Jayden did not get star struck but was well aware of who we were with! They talked movies and super heroes and [Bale] was genuinely happy to hear about everything Jayden wanted to tell him. Christian, his wife and daughter are three of the most beautiful people we have ever met! Christian made these arrangements for us personally and ensured we were treated like royalty. I don't have even one negative thing to say about them. I can tell you that they were just as impressed [with] Jayden as Jayden was [with] them.

The best part of this story isn't that Bale was so generous to one fan, despite that being a wonderful part of the story. No, instead the best part is the fact that Jayden has officially been told that his leukemia is in remission.

Meeting his hero and beating cancer for a second time? It appears that Jayden is finally getting some of the good luck that's been lacking in his life so far. Here's to that lasting, and Jayden having a long and happy life from now on.
