Courtesy of DC Comics, ComicsAlliance brings you an advance look at new periodical comic books, collected editions, graphic novels and collectibles going on sale in April 2017 (and in some cases beyond) from the publisher’s superhero line and the mature readers Vertigo imprint.

The biggest thing going on in the DCU in April is the aftermath of the "Superman Reborn" crossover. In fact, just about every issue with Superman in it is specifically labeled "Superman Reborn Aftermath." In his own books, Action Comics and Superman, we can see that he has a new costume, which is basically his classic pre-2011 costume, except with a different belt and no shorts (they're never giving us those shorts back). Obviously we don't know the full story yet, but the branding seems to be that this is the classic, one and only Superman. It's just a matter of exactly what that turns out to mean.

Superman has also found his way into Young Animal for a guest appearance in Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye, featuring a delightful cover of Cave looking pretty excited as Superman carries him through the sky. Meanwhile Doom Patrol features a fantastic Mike Allred cover, which suits the solicited story, in which the team gets an unwanted Silver Age makeover at the hands of Niles Caulder.

The Hanna-Barbera line appears to be dwindling, with Future Quest #12 being the final issue. Hopefully that's leading into some spin-offs books or something, because it would be a shame to see all the fantastic world-building Jeff Parker, Doc Shaner, and the other artists have done just fall by the wayside.

All of the following books can be purchased at finer comic book shops, where you can also pre-order your selections to ensure you’ll get a copy before they sell out.
