Earlier this week we wrote about Funko's upcoming, much-awaited Batgirl of Burnside Pop vinyl figure, but it turns out that was just an opening salvo for today's announcement. Alongside the Batgirl vinyl, DC has announced the first wave of Legends of Tomorrow vinyls featuring heroes from the hit CW series.

Announced today via DC's Legion of Collectors, the Legends of Tomorrow line starts out with four new vinyls featuring Brandon Routh's The Atom, Falk Hentschel's Hawkman, Caity Lotz's White Canary and Franz Drameh's Firestorm. The images available right now are only 3D mock-ups of what the final products might look like --- as opposed to physical prototypes --- but the attention to detail on what remains a minimalist brand of vinyls is impressive.

Whereas Funko Pops once started out as bare bones figures often based on the same mold, the Legends of Tomorrow line all come with distinctive touches that make them instantly recognizable. Whether it's Atom's armor, Hawkman's wings, Firestorm's flames or even White Canary's outfit, Funko Pops have come a long way in a relatively short amount of time.

Seeing as there are only four in the first wave, there are some notable omissions like Rip Hunter, while characters like Captain Cold and Heatwave already have designs released as part of The Flash line. However, it's very odd that Funko went with Hawkman over Hawkwoman. The latter is an integral part of the entire series, while the former is only in a handful of episodes. (And basically the worst.)

Funko Pop's Legends of Tomorrow vinyls are set to arrive in October.
