We’re still not entirely certain the DC universe is built for serial comedy (any more than it was ultra-grim movies), but NBC’s Powerless is giving ample opportunity to flex that DC connection. See for yourself in a new extended trailer, and details of just how much Batman we can really expect to see in the Wayne Security world.

NBC powered up a full-length trailer for the February 2 premiere; somewhat stitched together from earlier previews, but nonetheless rife with DC references from Starro, to Wonder Woman’s invisible jet, Kryptonite and more. Among the details revealed from the TCA panel (h/t EW), we learned that Powerless operates in its own separate DC universe, and the change from an insurance premise to Wayne Security better-generated the office comedy producers were looking for.

So, how about Van Wayne’s cousin Bruce popping up? Apart from a Batarang-episode, says EP Justin Halpern:

Even if you want to see [Bruce Wayne’s] hands pop into frame, you’d have to go get [Ben] Affleck; you can’t just have anyone’s hands … Usually they’re very protective of their characters — for good reason. A lot of people invest a lot in these characters. We ask for as much as we can get, and we see where we can find a happy medium. Like anything, they wanted to make sure they didn’t think the show was terrible before they let us use stuff.

While we wait, so reads the full synopsis:

In a world where humanity must cope with the collateral damage of Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) begins her first day as Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders feel a little safer. Full of confidence and big ideas, Emily quickly learns that her expectations far exceed those of her new boss (Alan Tudyk) and officemates, so it will be up to her to lead the team toward their full potential and the realization that you don’t need superpowers to be a hero.

Firefly favorite and Rogue One star Alan Tudyk will play Van Wayne, Emily (Vanessa Hudgens)’s superior, while Community alum Danny Pudi will play Teddy, Emily’s best work friend, trusted confidante and office prankster. Christina Kirk will play Jackie, superhero fan and assistant to Tudyk, along with comedian Ron Funches in an new role, and Kate Miccuci and Josh Fadem as Wendy and Marvin Harris.

The February premiere is gaining ground, so does Powerless seem worth a watch?
