Last time Deadpool and Wolverine got together on the big screen, things didn’t turn out so great. The less said about that, the better. But the new Deadpool solo movie looks like it’s finally going to do the character justice, and if Ryan Reynolds gets his way, we’ll also get a little added bonus to help make up for that whole X-Men Origins: Wolverine thing. Oh, sorry, I said we weren’t going to talk about that.

In an interview with News Limited (via Uproxx), Reynolds was asked about the possibility of Hugh Jackman making a cameo as Wolverine in Deadpool, to which he gave a very hopeful reply:

God I hope so, that would be really nice. I dunno, we’ll see. It seems like he’s open to it, but it’s gonna be more of a scheduling issue than anything else.

That sounds fairly optimistic, if Jackman can squeeze a quick couple of days of shooting into his schedule. The actor recently announced that he’ll make his final appearance as the beloved X-Men character in The Wolverine 2, and while that may be true, there are still a couple of movies he could appear in between now and then — it was rumored not long ago that he may make a cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse, which wouldn’t be very surprising, given that he’s appeared in every X-Men film to date.

The Wolverine 2 will mark Jackman’s eighth time playing Wolverine on screen, but if he appears in both Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse, that would bring the total to a nice, even 10.

Deadpool hits theaters on February 12, 2016.
